The mastermind behind the idea, American sexologist Carol Queen, decided to organize such a peculiar event as a protest when the Health Secretary of the Clinton administration (Dr. Joycelyn Elders) was fired in 1995 for stating that "masturbation should possibly be taught."
Since then, the 'Masturbate-a-thon' has grown in the number of participants, even being held in cities outside the United States, such as London or Copenhagen. To add more excitement to the event, it includes various categories to break world records: longest ejaculation (male or female), longest time of masturbation, or most orgasms.
For the past two years, the undisputed champion in the endurance category has been the Japanese Masanobu Sato: 9 hours and 58 minutes of going at it. It must be said that Mr. Sato has an undeniable advantage.
