36 fetishes that every man should know (1-10)

Fetishes You Should Know About

Worn or unworn underwear is one of my fetishes.

You might be wondering: What is a fetish and how does it differ from a perversion? But I will reiterate their distinction here. In short: a fetish is a particular stimulus (feet, gas masks, certain clothing), Kinks or perversion are "unconventional" sexual interests, such as bondage or spanking, a perversion is an unnatural inclination in instincts or behavior (bondage, spanking, etc.). That's all.

Fetishes, also called paraphilias, are objects, materials, features or clothing, such as worn jockstraps, that people respond to sexually and that enhance or facilitate sexual arousal. To clarify: fetish objects are not sexual in themselves, like whips or dildos. Fetish objects become sexualized when someone responds to them sexually.

You’ve probably heard of some dark fetishes, like high heels and rubber ducks. Fetishes are quickly moving from their perverted niche to pop culture. Stay on top of the trend with this list of 36 fetishes, some well-known, others less so, that you should know about.

1. Leather

Leather is one of the most fetishized materials and undoubtedly one of the oldest. The drawings of Tom of Finland from the 1970s of motorcycle boys dressed in incredibly tight leather solidified leather as a staple of gay culture. Today, the leather community is global, united by international leather competitions that celebrate this fetish at gatherings like Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, International Mr. Leather in Chicago, and Folsom Berlin.

What is a leather event like? It looks like a crowd of men in leather harnesses, jockstraps, jackets, boots, gloves, aprons, full-body uniforms, and other outfits. Since many leather fetishists have many other fetishes and perversions, the leather community is generally considered synonymous with the perverted community as a whole.

2. Rubber

The second most commonly fetishized material is rubber. Rubber boys often have the same fetishes and enjoy the same perversions as leather boys, but prefer a different material. They have their own large-scale gatherings like Mister International Rubber, also in Chicago.

It’s common for rubber boys to wear full-body suits that cover more skin. Rubber is not used for harnesses to the same extent as leather, although a good leather shop and perversion supplier like Mr. S Leather in San Francisco will have plenty of gear options in both materials.

3. Rope

This is a great opportunity to make the distinction between "perversion" and "fetish," a difference that, colloquially, is somewhat arbitrary since many people use the terms interchangeably.

Rope is a common material used in bondage, which is a perversion, but rope is not used exclusively. People who practice servitude may also use duct tape, leather cuffs, ropes, ties, and other restraint tools. But since many bondage perverts specifically fetishize rope, it becomes a fetishized material.

Rope is more rustic and romantic than duct tape. Duct tape brings to mind police sirens and robberies: the restraint material you would use if you want to be tied up, gagged, and left in a bundle for a few hours.

4. Worn Underwear

Worn underwear is such a common fetish that renowned escorts, porn stars, and prominent sexual figures can generally make a lot of money selling their unwashed underwear. (Amocabron3, if you’re reading this, I’d like to talk to you about a potential business venture).

5. Armpits

Also called maschalagnia, armpit fetishes are hard to explain to those who don’t share them. Our culture views armpits as unpleasant places on the body. While everyone should probably wear deodorant before a job interview or family gathering, some of you actually enjoy the smell (and taste) of armpits, without deodorant, it excites you.

6. Skaters

This fetish likely falls under the umbrella of "uniform" fetishes, but I separated it because there is no standard uniform for skaters, punks, and alternative boys. Some people, including my old friend, fetishize the stereotypical look of skaters, from their neck tattoos to their lip rings, from their Diamond Supply Co. t-shirts to their Vans sneakers.

7. Uniforms

People living in the United States are taught from a young age that uniforms should be viewed with respect, especially police uniforms, military uniforms, and firefighter uniforms. These sociopolitical respect dynamics naturally transformed into male strippers dressed as firefighters and police officers, evidence that uniforms are strongly fetishized by both heterosexual and LGBT people alike.

8. Bald Heads

There is a massive (though more underground) fetish surrounding boys with shaved heads or "skinheads." This fetish generally overlaps with rubber and skater/punk clothing. By extension, shaving someone’s head is a common perverse practice that is generally seen as a form of humiliation and "ownership."

Skinheads and the guys who fetishize them also tend to fetishize urine and enjoy fisting.

9. Razors

Shaving the body is generally considered a non-sexual activity and part of a mundane self-maintenance routine and non-erotic. But for some, shaving (themselves and others) is extremely exciting. As a sexual activity, shaving would likely be considered a perversion rather than a fetish. But trimmers, razors, and other modes of shaving and cutting body hair are fetishized objects, so they deserve a mention. The guys I’ve met who like this fetish get excited by the feeling of electric clippers running against their skin, and have had more than a few awkward erections in barber chairs.

10. Urine

Also called urolagnia, this is the fetish surrounding urine itself, which for obvious reasons overlaps with water sports, a sexual activity in which people enjoy urinating, urinating on others, and/or drinking urine.

To be continued.

I’m realizing, writing this post, that I’m more of a fetishist than I thought... and you?

  1. Totalmente identificado con el 8 y el 9. Aunque es complicado encontrar gente con el mismo fetiche o alguna fiesta que se organizara sobre esto
